Sultana Downrigging Tall Ships and Bluegrass festival is an event put on every year by a non-profit called Sultana Education foundation in Chestertown, MD. They hired me to do a rebrand of the event that included brochures, advertisements, a gig poster and merchandise.
The old branding for the festival was photography-based and included typography that while informational and bold was boring and read like a Power Point presentation. We wanted to change the branding of the festival to be more geared toward a festival-going crowd and have a hand crafted feel. I created pen and ink illustrations and hand-lettered type for the new deliverables that achieved this outcome.

Two gig posters were created, one for a screen print and one as a print advertisement. The goal for the posters was to create an ornate, collectable item for the festival goers that evoked old-time seafaring but also listed the names of the ships and the bluegrass bands that would perform.
